Which fruit trees do you grow ?

We are currently unable to supply cultivated fruit trees. We grow trees from seeds collected locally. With fruit trees you can't guarantee what you'll get exactly from a seed. That's why cultivated fruit trees are generally grown by grafting. We currently don't have the resources to do this successfully.

However we do grow the following wild fruit trees.

Crab apples (from seeds of various types of crab apple) 

Apple wildlings (grown from cultivated apple seeds)

Wild pear

Cherry Plum

Damson

Wild Cherry

Pots

Thank you to all the people that have kindly left pots for us that they no longer use. Please don’t leave any more. We are at capacity. We grow most of our trees in the ground and so don’t use too many pots. The ones we do use (mostly for the back garden growing program) are certain shapes and sizes. We have plenty of them now, apart from 1L square topped pots.

So, unless you have the 1L square topped ones, we can’t take them I’m afraid.

If you know of anyone that could use approx. 2000 pots of various sizes, please get in touch.

Tree Donations

Thank you for all the people that have left trees for us that they no longer want. Unfortunately, we don’t have space or resources to take on anymore right now. Alternate places you could advertise on to find homes for them, are Freecycle and Plant Swap Macclesfield Facebook Page.

When are our trees available?

We will advertise on our Facebook page a few times a year to let people know what we have available.

Most of the stuff we grow is in the ground and so cant be dug up until winter, when it is dormant. These are known as bare root trees. The bare root planting season runs from around November – March. We will advertise as soon as we know what we have available. Possibly September or October time

We also have a smaller number of trees that are growing in pots. These can be planted any time of year (maybe not in a drought though). We tend to advertise them late summer

We try and do our best to fairly distribute the trees. It is generally first come first served though. Exceptions might be if we have 10 spindle for example, and you want all 10. We might suggest that we give you 5 and then wait to see if anyone else wants the other 5. If not you can have them too. Otherwise, what tends to happen is that we end up with lots of one or 2 types left at the end of the season. People rewilding land will want more variety than that.
